Google has presented us a stable version of the new Android release couple weeks ago. Therefore, smartphone owners began to wonder whether their phones will be on the list of those that will be updated to Android 9.0 Pie. The owners of Nokia mobiles are in a privileged position. HMD Global has announced that each smartphone will receive an appropriate update.
Android 9.0 Pie is now available to owners of Google Pixel devices and people who have decided to purchase Essential Phone. The rest must wait. Holders of the latest flagship brands from famous manufacturers can be virtually certain that they will receive an update in the next few months. However, smartphone owners with so-called medium-sized shelves are in a much worse situation. It often happens that the weakest devices available on the market are not updated at all. Fortunately, there is an exception to this infamous rule.
Hi, Android Pie will be available for the Nokia 3, 5, 6 and 8. Roll-out will be phased as usual to secure quality delivery. Nokia 7 Plus is part of the Android One program, which guarantees two years of software updates, including Pie.

Each Nokia smartphone will be updated to Android 9.0 Pie
HMD Global intends to be regarded as a producer who cares about its clients. The proof of this is a promise made over a year ago about the guarantee of a 2-year software update period. However, this is not only about providing security patches. In addition to the security update, HMD Global intends to also provide so-called large updates to new versions of Android. That’s why Android 9.0 Pie will go to:
- Nokia 7 Plus (currently available through the Developer Preview program),
- Nokia 8 Sirocco,
- Nokia 8,
- Nokia 7 (China market),
- Nokia 6.1 Plus,
- Nokia 6.1,
- Nokia 6,
- Nokia 5.1,
- Nokia 5,
- Nokia 3.1,
- Nokia 3,
- Nokia 2.1 (Android Go),
- Nokia 2,
- Nokia 1 (Android Go),
- Nokia X6 (China market),
- Nokia X5 (China market).
So far, HMD Global has not provided any specific dates. Most likely the first smartphone to receive a stable version of the new Android will be Nokia 7 Plus. The next ones should be the flagship Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco. People who have equipped themselves with Android Go phones (Nokia 1 and Nokia 2.1) should not wait too long for the update.
