It may seem strange to you, but the world IT revolves around rumours 😉 I bet that you have already noticed that most of the news come from the mysterious and anonymous technology sources and leaks. This a have for you several informations about smartphones which will be powered by new Qualcomm’s chipset, i.e. the Snapdragon 835. So far it is known that this processor will be on board of Samsung Galaxy S8, Xiaomi Mi 6 and the long-awaited Microsoft Surface Phone.
Frankly, I thought that the Surface Phone from Microsoft would never see the light of day. Let’s get to the facts (rumours to be more precisely). So far, we do not know too much about the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, which will power the next year flagship smartphones. Currently, it is certain that the new chipset is manufactured in 10 nm technology, thanks to what it will generate less heat than its predecessors (Snapdragon 820 and 821) made in 14 nm technology. More modern technological process is also characterized by lower power consumption. I do not know whether this will provide battery life-time, because the manufacturers decide to also increase the number of processor cores and an increase of maximum frequency.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 will offer new fast charging solution called Quick Charge 4.0.
Therefore, you can guess that the new processor will also be much faster than its predecessors and active users will have to charge their phones every day. We already know that Samsung will present their flagship smartphone, i.e. Galaxy S8, the day before next year MWC (Mobile World Congress). But again, most likely Koreans will prepare two variants of this phone, the second version will be equipped in Exynos 8895 chipset. Samsung Galaxy S8 should appear in stores in March 2017. At the same time, the launch of their flagship are also planning Chinese. We do not know so much about Xiaomi Mi 6, but I bet that it will not be too much different from the Galaxy S8.
Microsoft is still working on their Surface Phone.
We all know that Microsoft went on the acquisition of Nokia’s mobile division very badly. The giant from Redmond does not produce any longer mobile phones from the Lumia series, but that does not mean that Microsoft has completely given up the smartphone market. Work on Surface Phone further progress. Currently, Microsoft has prepared two prototype versions. One of them is equipped with 4 GB of RAM, and the other has 6 GB of RAM. Both models are powered by the new Snapdragon 835 chipset, the variant with 6 GB of RAM is able to run x86 applications using Continuum. Microsoft Surface Phone will have 5.5.-inches Quad HD screen with 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution. It is also said that the Microsoft’s smartphone will be sold with laptop like accessories, e.g. a keyboard. Does Microsoft want to replace our computers by smartphones? It seems that for answer to this question will have to wait at least until the autumn of next year. Microsoft will release three versions of Surface Phone with Windows 10 Mobile Redstone 3.
