SoulCalibur is a popular series of console brawl, for which Namco studio is responsible. However, it is not as well recognized as the most popular series of the same studio, the Tekken series. That’s why Motohiro Okubo, who is responsible for both series, admitted that if SoulCalibur VI is not successful, it will be the last part of the series started in 1995.

Namco is known for his successful fighting. The SoulCalibur series debuted in December 1995, when the Soul Blade was released on the PlayStation. However later (i.e. in 1998) Namco has decided to rename the series on SoulCalibur and since then he has been releasing new games from this series under the changed name. Both fighting game series (i.e. SoulCalibur and Tekken) are created by practically the same people. However, players prefer to participate in iron fist tournaments rather than fight for a cursed blade. That’s why Namco decided to move a few characters. First, Yoshimitsu, known from Tekken, appeared, and later Heihachi joined him. In the world of SoulCalibura there were also characters known from Star Wars (i.e. Yoda, Darth Vader and Starkiller). SoulCalibur VI will receive Geralt. Will The Witcher save a series of brawls from falling?

Namco has not yet decided on the future of the SoulCalibur series

Motohiro Okubo during the interview given to the service DualShockers admitted that he had to persuade his bosses long enough to agree to start work on SoulCalibur VI. This series is going through a crisis, so the upcoming part may be the last one. However, its creators have nothing to lose, so they do what they initially planned. The effects of their work will be known on October 19. This is when the new Namco brawl will hit the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles and (for the first time in the series) PCs.
