Ever wondered over the choice of online store that you would able to install and configure by yourself? I just recently had such a problem, so I decided to kill two birds, one stone and immediately make for you a review of stores that I had the opportunity to test. Maybe someone will be useful for you and it will save you hours of clicking it, that I spent.

Magento

I will start with perhaps the greatest script. Magento is, in my opinion mare, when it comes to the number of functions. This is in my opinion by far one of the most powerful platforms for running an online store. Most importantly, this script should be chosen by people who want to create a large online store. For those who do not need too many features, this platform is simply too extensive. It has many features to help you manage many products. In addition, as large utility also needs a lot of server resources. It has many features:

  • complex systems analysis
  • reporting systems
  • systems management products
  • responsive (mobile version)
  • payment systems

But this is not all. With Magento can result in several online stores at once from a single administrative panel, and for your product, you can set the template. Thanks to this, the product is presented uniquely. Expandability store for their own needs are almost endless, but unfortunately the PHP code is also much. Unfortunately, additional functionality, and even ready-made templates are already paid. The code can be optimized according to the rules of SEO. There is the slightest problem. There are a few disadvantages, which I must mention. The first one is just a problem of resources. Functionality and expand opportunities often go hand in hand with greater demands on server parameters and rather do not handle. Many machines can not bear this platform. The administration is also not easy, because the script is not “user-friendly”. Sorry, but it requires advanced programming knowledge in order to be able to modify it. Magento is a highly developed social side. It has good support and help on the Internet. Especially in English, but also Polish versions will come.

Magento

PrestaShop

This is the script that I most to the liking and no wonder. It is probably the most popular on the Internet. It is characterized by high performance, extended functionality and concise way to modify the settings. The interface is extremely intuitive and friendly. Compared to its predecessor, is a highly digestible tool. For sure, I can recommend it to those who want to get going with online stores, and not quite know how to move. The tool is based on the popular template system called “Smarty.” Presta has a lot of built-in system functionality. Of course, not hard to guess that they do not match Magento but something for something. Here we have the ease of management.

It is enough, however, for those who want to create and manage intermediate shops. The tool is powerful. It does not require a server resources, such as its predecessor. The merit is the built-in indexing the page. If, however, take into account the diversity of functionality that the tool offers, the efficiency is at a good level. Like any tool Presta also has its drawbacks. The first is the amendments that go at least twice a month and should be installed. The update is required especially in the case of published security vulnerabilities. Unfortunately, the implementation of the amendments is not easy. Longer requires knowledge. As in the case of Magento, Presta in a lot of functionality is paid, including templates. Admittedly, I was able to find several freeware templates, but this is only a drop in the ocean, because there is plenty to choose from. It may even happen that the tool kit needed paid features will cost more than fully commercial tools to conduct online store.

Presta Shop

OpenCart

OpenCart is not as much popular as Presta or Magento. The tool is gaining more and more popularity in Poland. However, it can convince the users. It has many plugins, good performance and very importantly concise manner modification. Of course, he does not have as much functionality as Presta or Magento. But there is compensation in the form of 1,600 free and approx. 4000 paid plugins. That’s something, especially since the predecessors of free extras, we can dream of. The advantage of all this is that in order to buy or download the plugin to more advanced reporting for customers can choose between a dozen or so similar. The architecture of this script is based on the familiar programming model called MVC (Model-View-Controller), and it’s much easier “finding” in the code and modify the script by programmers. The script is compliant with XHTML. Requirements server this script is not great. However, if you add too many plugins, the yield falls. The interface is nice, clear and easy to use. This is one of the major advantages of this script. The problem for updates that need a long time to wait, and the fact that their performance can throw system. Therefore, you need to do it very carefully. The basic version of the script not optimized forces the client to download approx. 500 KB same CSS and JavaScript.
