Recently, we had quite a stir on Indian mobile market caused by Reliance Jio offer. I wonder how this will look in case of Datawind company. They are already known in India thanks to their ultra low-cost tablets. Currently, Datawind is going to do the same with smartphones.

Datawind company has announced that they will release three 4G LTE capable smartphones around upcoming Diwali festival. The cheapest model will cost about Rs. 3 000 and it will have only 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. It is not so much, but it should be good enough for Internet browsing. The most expensive variant will be priced at Rs. 7 000 and it will offer 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of flash memory. Also, the medium variant with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of naive storage will be offered.

The Datawind will offer also 1 year of free Internet in price of the handset.

This is good marketing strategy, because Datawind has already applied for the licence to become a virtual operator. It means, that you will be able to buy a SIM card together with the device and you will get 1 year of free Internet. Datawind is also going to offer an unlimited data plan for just Rs. 99. I wonder if this unlimited offer will cover all type of traffic or maybe this will be limited only to web browsing. Despite this, it can be very competitive offer and we may again see people storming shops in India.
