Asus very likes world Zen and they produce very high quality Zen serie hardware. For an example, ZenBook ultrabooks are called MacAir killers. I have to admit that this title is well deserved. However, Asus ZenFone smartphones are another story. They do not compete with iPhone smartphones. This is good strategy, because we have a lot of Apple mobiles clones on the market. Will Asus ZenFone 3 be loved by Indian users?
Yesterday, the Asus ZenFone 3 smartphone has been launched in India. However, Asus has announced also additional models from ZenFone 3 series, i.e. ZenFone 3 Deluxe, ZenFone 3 Ultra, and the ZenFone 3 Laser. These three models will be available in India from September. These all mobiles have USB Type-C reversible connector, fingerprint sensor, gyroscope (so AR Mode in Pokemon Go should be supported), 8 MP front camera and hybrid dual SIM slot (you can use two SIM cards or a SIM card and a microSD card as memory extension). Of course, all mobiles have Android Marshmallow on board, however it is hard to say if they receive the Nougat update.
This is the basic version of ZenFone 3 smartphone. This is generally very well featured and cheap mobile. However, ZenFone 3 is available in two versions: ZE520KL and ZE552KL. Both variants have the same Qualcomm 625 chipset with an octa-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 processor and Adreno 506 graphics unit. The main camera has 16 MP resolution and it is able to record 1080p@30fps videos. The difference in storage, RAM, screen size and battery capacity.
Asus ZenFone 3 ZE520KL is smaller, i.e. it has 5.2-inches screen, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB internal storage and 2 650 mAh battery. This is also the cheapest ZenFone 3 smartphone and it is priced at Rs. 21 999. Bigger version (i.e. ZE552KL) has 5.5-inches display, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB internal storage and 3 000 mAh battery. It costs Rs. 27 999.
ZenFone 3 Deluxe
This is very nice proposal from Asus. ZenFone 3 Deluxe is big mobile with 5.7-inches Full HD Super AMOLED screen and 23 MP main camera which records 2160p@30fps videos! Here I have special surprise for you, because this smartphone will be also available in two versions. The basic model has the well known Snapdragon 820 chipset (the same is used in Xiaomi Mi5, LG G5 and other flagship smartphones), 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB storage. The battery has 3 000 mAh, but it can be quickly charged thanks to Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology. This specification is amazing, so the mobile can not be cheap. It costs Rs. 49 999.
However, this is not all. Asus has prepared something special for Indian premiere. Special Edition of ZenFone 3 Deluxe will be also available with new Snapdragon 821 processor! According to information from Qualcomm, this chipset is 10% more powerful than its successor. Snapdragon 821 has two Kyro cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and the second pair of Kyro cores clocked at 2.0 GHz. This varian has also two times bigger storage, i.e. 256 GB. It is priced at Rs. 62 999.
ZenFone 3 Ultra
This smartphone is dedicated for mobile players and people who love watching videos on mobile devices. ZenFone 3 Ultra is terrible big device with 6.8-inches screen, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB storage. It is powered by Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor (4x 1.8 GHz Cortex-A72 and 4x 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53). It has the same camera as ZenFone 3 Deluxe model. However, ZenFone 3 Ultra has very high capacity battery (4 600 mAh) and Quick Charge 3.0 support. This model is not so expensive (Rs. 29 999). This is not also cheap, but I think that this is acceptable price for mobile multimedia lovers.
ZenFone 3 Laser
This is the cheapest mobile from ZenFone 3 series. ZenFone 3 Laser has 5.5-inches screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octal-core processor with all Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.4 GHz. It has 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB internal memory and 3 000 mAh battery. However, this is only ZenFone 3 model with micro USB interface instead of USB Type-C. The camera has only 13 MP resolution, but it will cost Rs. 18 999.
