Every year, just before the Mobile World Congress, Samsung organizes a conference for which the new flagship series Galaxy S presents itself. This year, of course, these are Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 + models. Both smartphones have already been known quite accurately thanks to the leakages published on the web. Although Samsung has not prepared any technological revolution for us this year, however, the Koreans managed to secretly keep one functionality.
It has been seen for several years that smartphone manufacturers have a problem with innovation in the design of their products. This is most painfully visible in the case of iPhones, which only a brand fan can distinguish from each other. For a less skillful eye, the iPhone 6s, 7 and 8 look the same. We have a similar situation with this year’s Galaxy S9/S9+ and last year’s Galaxy S8/S8+. The designers of Samsung apparently decided that the previous project was good enough that it does not require any major changes. The first detail you can see is to improve the position of the fingerprint reader, which now we find under the camera. So much from outside. However, the new flagship of Samsung changed the most in the middle.
Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+ are the most powerful Android smartphones
Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 (4x 2.7 GHz Kryo 385 Gold + 4x 1.7 GHz Kryo 385 Silver) and Exynos 9810 (4x 2.8 GHz 3rd Mongoose + 4x 1.7 GHz Cortex-A55) are the most efficient chipsets available on the market. The results of benchmarks available on the web suggest that the new flagship is about 30% faster than its predecessor. People who value the speed of the application should be interested in a larger variant, namely Galaxy S9+, which has 6 GB of RAM. “Ordinary” Galaxy S9 has 4 GB of RAM, which is the same as last year’s model. Both models will be available in 3 variants with different amounts of internal memory, i.e. 64, 128 and 256 GB.
A brand new camera
Even before the premiere, Samsung did not hide that the greatest improvements in this year’s models will concern photography and video recordings. The Galaxy S9 has a single camera with the Super Speed Dual Pixel matrix with a resolution of 12 Mpix. It is directly integrated into the DRAM memory, allowing you to make a super-fast series of four photos. Another new feature is the use of a variable aperture. The F1.5 mode limits the amount of recessed light, allowing you to take a clear and clear picture. However, in F2.4 mode, you can see an improvement in the sharpness of photos taken in daylight. Fans of video recordings will appreciate the Super Slow-mo mode, which operates at 960 fps.
Galaxy S9+ has 2 cameras, each of them has optical image stabilization. The second lens with a resolution of 12 Mpix was previously used by Samsung in Galaxy Note 8. We can use it to take a picture in poratrait mode or to zoom. Both models have a front camera with a resolution of 8 Mpix with the function of blurring the background.
