Samsung decided to equip the Galaxy Note 9 with a huge battery. The 4 000 mAh battery should check for a long time. As you might have guessed, the new flagship of Samsung is better in this respect than Note 8. However, as it falls on other smartphones? The answer to this question can be found in the test results.
The biggest advantage of the Galaxy Note 9 is a capacious battery. Some people may be worried about placing a 4 000 mAh battery in such a thin smartphone is safe. After all, we all remember the scandal of the Galaxy Note 7, which had a 3 500 mAh battery originally installed. However, Samsung has since introduced a battery testing process that is geared to checking their safety. Therefore, Note 9 buyers should not be afraid of unexpected auto-ignitions. Samsung’s new flagship has not yet hit the stores, but PhoneArena received a copy that could have tested the battery’s durability. The results are quite satisfactory, but not very sensational.
Galaxy Note 9 withstands a single charge 14% longer than the Galaxy Note 8
The test prepared by the PhoneArena service consists in launching a web script that emulates the user’s behaviour. In addition, the brightness of the screen is set at 200-nit brightness. The measurements show that the battery in the Galaxy Note 9 should be enough for almost 9 hours of active use and it is an hour longer compared to Note 8. An interesting fact is also that a similar result in the same test obtained Pixel 2 XL, which has a battery with a capacity of 3 520 mAh. This means that Samsung could still work on optimizing the version of Android it has modified. The second factor that can significantly affect the battery performance is the display. This is clearly visible after the results of Apple smartphones. The iPhone 8 Plus lasted almost 2 hours longer during the test than the iPhone X. The biggest difference between these models comes down to the applied screen.
The fast charging technology used by Samsung deserves to praise. The PhoneArena team tested the American version of Note 9, so it was a model equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. However, Samsung limits the capabilities of the system controlling the charging process for Quick Charge 2.0. Despite the fact that this is a rather old solution, it works very well. Note 9 is only charged 7 minutes longer than its predecessor. In contrast, Apple and Google smartphones that use the standard solutions offered by the USB-C standard, load much longer. In this combination, the best looks for OnePlus 6, which uses the unique Dash Charge technology for this manufacturer.
In summary, the 4 000 mAh battery in the Galaxy Note 9 makes an impression and actually contributes to the longer working time of the smartphone. However, other manufacturers can achieve similar results when using less storage batteries.
