Xiaomi is called by many people Chinese Apple. This title is fully deserved, because the Chinese company does not hide too much with the fact that it draws its inspiration from products developed in Cupertino. Proof of this is the upcoming flagship Xiaomi Mi 8, which resembles the iPhone X and is supposed to offer similar functions. One of them is the emoji, or animoji, benefiting from augmented reality.

Xiaomi Mi 8 will be presented to the world on May 31. As it always happens before such premieres, various types of leaks started appearing on the network. We have already got used to the rumours related to the hardware specifications of new smartphones. This time, the premature premiere had a short video, which presented 4 animojis: a pig, a panda, a Xiaomi mascot and a fox. A similar feature was presented by Apple with the premiere of the iPhone X. However, the animoji presented by Tim Cook used the Face ID system, which replicates the facial expressions of the user. Xiaomi Mi 8 will probably be an interesting smartphone, but rather it was not equipped with an infrared camera and other components included in the Apple’s Face ID.

Xiaomi Mi 8 can be an interesting alternative for other Android flagships

There are rumors in the network suggesting that the Xiaomi Mi 8 will be the first Android smartphone equipped with a three-dimensional facial recognition system. This solution would ideally harmonize with new animojis. However, Samsung was able to present its version of animoji without the need for an advanced facial recognition system. Although Apple’s solution is more precise, most users are satisfied with Samsung’s solution.

The 6.2-inch screen will have a characteristic wide indentation in which the loudspeaker and the front camera will be hidden. Perhaps the Chinese will also place a different type of sensor there. However, we do not know any details about it. The smartphone is to be available in two variants: 6 GB + 64 GB (price of 2 799 yuan) and 8 GB + 128 GB (price of 3 199 yuan).
